Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy centers on the belief that effective instruction requires flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of the student. As an alumnus of New Mexico State University, the University of New Mexico, and Roswell High School, I have benefitted from an eclectic background, rooted within varied contexts, cultures, and socio-economic classes. My graduate studies have provided psychology specific teaching experience, where I was allowed to develop an approach centering on the recognition of how course, context, and unique student dynamics demand tailored instructional methods.

Below are a few quotes from my students. For a complete, unedited listing of ALL my course reviews, please click here.

“Our professor was very funny and made sure that he treated us with respect. I always wanted to show up to class because our professor was always making jokes to help us with our learning and it was very entertaining to hear the professor speak. I loved that he was very engaging with the class and he never made us feel bad or dumb for asking questions. He was also willing to help us in any way, he is also great at responding to emails quickly.”

“Love love love Bryan's class and lecturing style. 5 stars, ten outta ten. Genuinely engaging to listen to and brought the subject to life with his own personal examples. Always was approachable and wanted us to succeed and be involved in the department's research. Understandable grading system and had an open mind to discussion and feedback.”
